landscaping help…??

i cant find any good privacy trees/bushes/shrubs
i do not like arborvitae AT ALL or anything that looks like an arborvitae. im fine with a hedge but my mom is iffy on it and i highly doubt see will go for it.
but we have a little bit of grass were we are going to put whatever it is in there. its 4′ in width BUT since these stupid people took a survey and said half of it was theirs we really olny have 3′ ( cuz they MIGHT want to put a fence in or something) but i dont know cuz she said we only have 2′ wicth makes no sence to me. and they have to be 6′ or higher to please her stuborness… of course there can the tops can look like this /////. but the thing that makes this even harder is this is a new house. it was for sale. but the sign that said it was isnt there any more but no one is living in it.
thus i need suggestions for privacy trees or whatever or ideas on what to do about it. (cuz we NEED the trees there)

You’ve got some real problems, the least is the lack of a privacy fence. Apparently, the house next to your property was up for sale and it looks like it is still empty. Why don’t you wait until you see if you are going to get some nice neighbors before you decide you need more privacy. The tiny space you mentioned is not enough to put in any kind of plant material except vines; 2 or 4 inches worth of ground won’t grow much of anything, certainly not trees or shrubs. It would be just enough room to put a chain link fence that could grow vines that would give you privacy after it has a chance to climb the fence .
