Very Tall trees for screening along back fence (privacy from neighbours)?
A very tall house is being built at the back of our property and we would like to put some very tall trees along our back fence for privacy.
Can anyone recommend some fast growing tall trees (apart from Lilly Pilly). We want something that doesn’t require too much maintenance.
They need to grow to at least 4 metres high – the higher the better.
A lot depends on where you live as different trees are suitable for different climates and also how much land you have , as some trees suggested are wide and spreading and you may only have space for tall narrow trees. Lombardy poplar suggested by one person is fast growing and tall and narrow but it is in fact a deciduous tree and not evergreen (I have two outside my home and they have no leaves on at present) and it sends up suckers. I live on the south coast of Victoria so what grows well here may not suit your area. I suggest that you go to your local plant nurseries and explain the problem , they should know what grows well in your area. The other thing to do is look at trees in your area that are strong and healthy and that may suit your property and ask the owner if you can take a small branch to be identified.
