Want to put “weed mat” in my flower bed.?
I have a nice flower bed in front of my house, but the weeds are killing me. It is full of long grass that has an immense root system. I want to put some weed mat down, but am not sure of the best way to do it. My main question is: if I dig up my azalea’s and evergreen shrubs, will they survive if I replant them an hour or so later. I have never replanted azaleas that were as mature as these are. Any suggestions?
You don’t even have to dig them up. Just get a friend to help. Spread the weed fabric out on your lawn. Measure your flower garden and then measure the weed fabric. Cut the weed fabric about a foot too big on all sides you can trim later. Measure where the flowers are in the garden and mark with chalk on fabric. Cut an x where each flower is. Pop the weed fabric over your garden and slip each flower through the x’s.
