flowering shrubs sc
what type of shrub do I have?

I live in Charleston SC. Its a purple, small leaved shrub. It flowers a like pink, small flower all over. The leaves shed easily and all year round – more-so in the winter. I have several of them. Some are as tall as 4ft. Others are only 2ft. When should I prune them to encourage growth? I want them fuller.

I live in SC & if it’s the shrub I think you’re referring to it doesn’t usually drop leaves all year. This sounds like a princess flower or a Loropetalum. I have 9 of the latter & about 100 total # of shrubs. I trim them whenever I feel they need it. However, it’s best to trim them in spring & fall to keep from cutting off any blooms. To positively identify your shrub, I’d need to have a picture. Please have a look at these to see if your shrub is here.
