looking fo a website that tells how to identify my County’s plants?
my biology teacher gave us an assignment to be able to identify a certain number of trees and a certain number of fall plants that grow in my area. she said to go online and find pictures of at least 20 of each (leaves, flowers and or fruit) and i’m having trouble finding a site that can give me a good, color, close up picture of the leaves and the fruit.
i live in Boone County, Missouri if that will help anybody
so if anyone knows of or can find a website that will help it would be much appriciated!!!
You’re extremely unlikely to find a county flora online, but you’re very lucky to have a pretty good couple of state sites:
http://www.missouriplants.com/
http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/MDCLibrary/MDCLibrary2.aspx?NodeID=167
http://plantsci.missouri.edu/weedscience/WeedScienceIDGuide.htm
http://mdc.mo.gov/nathis/plantpage/flora/motrees/
Also, once you’ve identified a plant and want to look for further photos, try http://plants.usda.gov and doing a google image search.
If you get stumped, look for similar pages in surrounding states.
