What flowering shrubs will update my landscape?

I live in Tampa Bay and here in the south, Azaleas Oleander and Hibiscus have been used to great extent since my grandmas day. Everyone has them around their house. That’s the problem tho — they are so old fashioned! and I’m just OVER them. I want some new ideas for flowering shrubs will update my landscape and bring it into the new century.
