What are the best plants/bushes to plant in the South?

I want some bushes/shrubs that stay green all year and maybe get buds in the Spring/Summer. I live in Tennessee and I have a small place to landscape.

To stay green year round, you need evergreens like yew or dwarf pine or holly. Also azealas and rhododendrons, which grow in east Tenn anyway. Most evergreens don’t have flowers or buds, but hollies do have small flowers and berries that look good.
