How tall will the Leonard Messel Magnolia (Loebneri) grow in Central Ohio?
I’m looking for a more dramatic and interesting magnolia tree for my yard that will grow to 20 or 30 feet with a somewhat open canopy and sturdy but “twisty” trunk. I’ve been researching the Leonard Messel Magnolia online, but everyone says something different about it! Monrovia says it’s a “slow-growing shrub” reaching 10-15 feet high, and a majority of others say 20-30 feet. Which is correct?
Would this be a good one for me, or are there others you might suggest? Most important to me is height and color. I want something that will make a statement! …Is there a taller version of Magnolia Ann or Betty?
Slow-growing shrub to 10 to 15 ft. high, 12 ft. wide, larger as a tree form. The tree is rated for zones 5-9. Do you live in Zone 5?

50 Beautiful Deer-Resistant Plants: The Prettiest Annuals, Perennials, Bulbs, and Shrubs that Deer Don’t Eat $11.33 What’s the biggest problem facing gardeners? Drought, lack of sun, or the ever-present threat of disease? Nope, it’s deer. The beautiful animals immortalized in Disney’s Bambi are also the garden’s biggest pests.
