Pruning boxwood shrubs?
Boxwoods are around 3 years old. They became larger than I wanted so I took around 3-4 inches off the top and each side 2 weeks ago- – trimmed them just down to the open area. There is some green left in the middle where they come together so I think they are still alive. This year’s new growth had not appeared yet so I thought timing was correct. How long before new growth will appear on top and sides? I live in Zone 5. I am beginning to become concerned I took too much off.
boy you kind of hacked them, boxwoods are pretty hardy, I do like them, but they aren’t fast growers, now it depends if they are in the sun or shade where you live, but give it some more time, you’ll know if they are stressed they will wilt and turn yellow in color
