What is a good ground cover plant that can thrive in shade and around evergreen shrubs/bushes?

I have very large cement planters in front of my house as part of the landscaping. Currently the evergreen bushes and a holly bush are thriving, but i would like to have some sort of color around the bushes instead of just dirt. I can’t mulch the area becuase it floods with very heavy rain and runs over the edges. The plants would be mainly in shade with a varying 2-5 hours of direct sunglight during the summer. I want something that won’t kill the bushes as many vines do.
