Beginners Guide To Laying Garden Shrubs And Garden Turf

You must make sure you have the correct gardening equipment, before you start work on your garden. Some of the tools used are rakes, pruners, shears and shovels but it is a good idea to buy a  gardening smock as this will protect your clothing from dirt and debris. Gardening smocks come in a variety of sizes, are waterproof and can contain pockets for easy transporting of gardening tools and smaller equipment.

A quick way to creating a fresh, beautiful lawn is to bypass growing from seeds, which is a long and laborious process, and lay your grass in the form of garden turf. To ensure that your turf looks natural, there are several essential steps that must be implemented. To encourage the turf roots to extend deeply into the soil you must allow time to prepare the soil underneath.

This is achieved by supplying the soil with essential nutrients, water, extending it’s exposure to sunlight and breaking up large masses of soil. The garden turf is mainly delivered rolled and should be flattened out and laid immediately as rolled grass is virtually dying as it is unable to reach any UV light. After rolling out and laying the garden turf you must water regularly to allow the roots to become fully established in the new soil.

Garden shrubs are used to add colour to outdoor gardens and are often one of the favourite plants amongst gardeners. They exist as either evergreen or flowering shrubs. Garden shrubs can be purchased as seeds or as smaller plants ready for relocating into an outdoor garden. The best time for this is in the Spring as the weather is far more suitable for shrubs to become re-established in their new environment.

If you don’t make sure your plant has enough space when transfering to its new environment, it will soon overtake it’s entire surroundings. Should this happen, prune your shrubs as, although promoting vigorous growth, it also ensures shrubs maintain healthy branches and shoots. It is imperative that you water your garden shrubs often as if not, this could lead to dry roots which is known to be fatal to shrubs.
