Are eugenia ventenati berries edible?
WE have recently bought the shrub and wondered if the berries were edible they are little sweet and are purpley red in colour
According to this site they are:

I’ve searched everywhere and I can’t find any indication that the berries are poisonous on the ventenati. But just to be totally on the safe side I’d contact a grower and ask them, like this one:

You might also ask your local county extension agency. If they didn’t know off hand they could certainly find out and they would definitely be a reliable source of information. Better safe than sorry!
