shrubs feeding
Just found rabbits nest in yard?

We recently cut down some shrubs and today i found a rabbits nest. I can see at least one kit moving inside, however about a foot away, there is a dead baby. What should I do? How can I tell if the mother is feeding them? Would she just let one die?
Thanks

Leave the nest alone.

Don’t touch it.

You can’t tell as mothers feed at night, not randomly during the day.

And yes, of course she would let one die. She’s not a vet, and if the rabbit is sick she would either let it die or kill it herself- hence is life.

DON’T touch, bury or move the dead (or alive) one. She will dispose of the body herself- all animals know how to keep their nest clean.

Mother rabbits do NOT stay with their young twenty four seven. They leave them in the nest most of the day and come back during the night to feed. If she smells human on the babies- dead or alive- or feels disturbed, she may abandon the nest. But she most likely hasn’t, so just leave it alone before you CAUSE her to leave it.
