Stonecrops plants are tough and can live long. They are strong, fleshy and water storing plants that have been growing in gardens of any temperature condition. They are able to retain their moisture even in extremely wet or dry conditions. Stonecrops are also referred to as Sedum.

As stonecrops thrive in any type of soil, they are a great choice for making extensive green roofs and can be great additions to extensive garden roofs. As long as their roots are provided a secure support, they may be grown in an ordinary border, on walls, roofs, rocks (e.g. rock/Zen gardens or alpine gardens) or any other places. Although one should be sure of the quantity to be used as incorrect amounts and outright consumptions may cause other health problems.
