Climbers are not generally something I see along roads and I guess the local parks aren’t very inventive, you are probably more likely to see them in peoples front gardens alongside the roads.

Photinia x fraserii Red Robin is a very commonly planted shrub at the moment by my local council, Berberis, Cotoneaster, Pyracantha, Portuguese Laurel, Potentilla. Hundreds of shrubs to choose from really, council seem to like planting ones with big spines at parks to stop them getting trampled on.
