Has anyone had a look at the Sibley Field Guide to Trees which came out recently? How does it compare?
I loved the Sibley guide to birds. I’m thinking of buying the one for trees. (I know a lot about birds, but not so much about trees.) How does it stack up to other field guides?
I had not heard of this until I saw your question. I looked at it on Amazon just now. It is arranged taxonomically, which is good. I don’t see anything about any sort of a key though. If that is missing, the book is probably going to be difficult to use to determine an unknown. If you already know what family it is in, chances are you have technical manuals and are used to using them. I would not order it on-line, but rather take a look at a copy at a bookstore before purchasing it. What works for birds does not necessarily work for plants.
