Do Little Gem Magnolias bloom for very long? and can you keep these trimmed only 4-5 feet as a bush?
how long and which months they bloom? and are they really better for an evergreen shrub that blooms than rhodendrons? why so?
also, is there a magnolia that grows a bit larger than little gem that can also keep as a small tree or large shrub that flowers good and long? anything can explain appreciated.
Magnolias bloom for about 2 weeks, sometimes a little bit longer if you don’t get too much rain.
They usually bloom in Feb to April depending on when the weather changes.
Thereare many types of magnolia, the problem is finding one. Instead of choosing online, go to a few local nurseries and see what they actually have. When reading the size, remember that magnolias grow INCREDIBLY slowly.
Magnolias can easily be pruned so you can keep them any size you want, but, their branches spread out rather than growing “clumpy” so you cannot make them form a neat, blob type shape.
