Help with grass?

I just moved into a duplex this past week. The shrubs and other trees and plants look great and are in good shape. However the lawn is dead covered in weeds. I live in south florida so the soil is sandy and does not hold much nutrients. What can i do to make this lawn looking good again. The grass that is still alive seems to be a mix and match. Bahaya,st augustine, that grass that growns on golf courses. They grass doesnt have to match i just want the weeds gond and it to look green…….(i cant do much now due to a drought this is more or less for future reference.) thanks

Buy a weed and feed, any brand comparable to “Scotts”. Spread it using one of those walk behind spreaders on wheels (not very expensive). Follow the directions on the bag which usually goes something like this…
Cut the grass a day or two ahead of time. Spread weed and feed early in the morning before the dew evaporates.
I also watered my lawn the evening before, just to make sure the grass, or more importantly the weeds, were plenty wet.

Last year was the first year I used this and my grass looked great. I’ve already done it again this year and plan to do it again just before fall. I hope it works as well for you as it has at my S.C. home.
