Misting Bonsai Trees?
Hello, I got a Bonsai Tree yesterday and also bought a book on caring for them from the same place… I was told that everything I need to know is in the book and the woman talked to me about the basics such as how to water it and included “you need to mist it…” Well, it’s not in the book.
I know how to mist it but I don’t know when to do it or how often for this species. I looked on Google, before anyone says it and all I kept finding was “stand it over a tray of water and let it evaporate”. I’ll do this if there’s no other choice, but I want to know about misting using a spray bottle.
It’s a Chinese Privet (Ligustrum nitida).
If anyone can tell me when to do this and how often, I’d appreciate it, thank you.

Hi,
Chinese privet doesn’t need particularly too much humidity, s you should be fine if you even avoid misting it all together. Most bonsai species aside from tropicals are completely fine without misting. If yu would like to mist your tree (they enjoy them) you can either mist once every two days or so or simply place your tree on a humidity tray. You can also just water your tree using the shower nozzle and avoid misting all together by drenching the whole tree. But yes, you really do not need to mist bonsai if you don’t want to, but at least once a week is a nice treat for them.
