Things To See And Do About Bournemouth Vacations
Bournemouth is a vibrant, thriving and incredibly exciting city, despite the unfortunate fact that it has the nickname ‘God’s waiting Room’. The reason it is called this is that many people settle in the town for their retirement. However, the city of Bournemouth has an incredible youth culture, with a high population of university and language students. Obviously a place such as this could be a great place to visit but, there is plenty more to keep you interested. In fact Bournemouth is surprisingly popular with people of various ages, one of the reasons why there are so many places offering bed and breakfast in Bournemouth to choose from.
Bournemouth is found on the English South coast, a little over a hundred miles from of London. Bournemouth, the biggest town on the south coast, is greatly renowned for its 7 miles of stupendous beaches of golden sand and sparkling rich blue sea. It is the city of Bournemouth’s profound location that caused it to be a popular UK holiday destination since the start of the eighteen hundreds. It is pretty hard to understand that the city of Bournemouth was, at the start of the 19C, little more than a remote and barren heathland consisting of mainly common grazing except for the estate belonging to Sir George Ivison Tapps. In 1809 a public house appeared on the heathland, the Tapps Arms, a few of years later, in 1812, a retired army officer and wife became the first residents.
Lewis Tregonwell and his wife acquired some land, from Sir George Ivison Tapps, upon which they built a few villas with a sea view with a view to letting them out to visitors for the summer for holidays. Lewis Tregonwell also built a summerhouse on the land. and also began planting a huge number of pine trees, creating a beautifully sheltered walkway leading to the beach, which later became known as the Invalid’s walk.
Since those early days the popularity of Bournemouth, as a UK tourist destination, has ceaselessly increased, and, the city has gained a reputation for being a tourist haven for recreation, culture, entertainment, fun and leisure. Places which are popular to visit include; the award winning Central Gardens, the graveyard of St. Peters Church, Bournemouth Pier and the Russel-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum.
If you are currently deciding upon taking a trip to the city of Bournemouth it is immensely important that you reserve your lodgings as early as possible as, sadly hotel accommodation in Bournemouth tend to be alarmingly busy and are often fully booked well in advance. If you are a large group you might find that Bournemouth apartments prove to be cheaper alternative to Bournemouth bed & breakfast accommodation.
