Best Locations For Viewing Fall Leaves
Where will you go to enjoy the many colors of fall leaves? If you are like most, the first place you think of is the Northeast. While the Northeast is a spectacular place to enjoy autumn leaves, it is not the only place in the country to see them. There are a number of other places across the country that offer spectacular displays to those who enjoy the tapestry of fall. To help you find your fall leaves destination, here are a few of the beautiful places the United States offers.
New York
As surprising as it may be, there is more to New York then skyscrapers and Wall Street. If you take a trip to the Catskills region which is 100 miles north of the infamous big apple you will be able to enjoy numerous wooded areas that create a breathtaking fall foliage tapestry. While there you can also take in a number of historic towns, take a trip down one of the calm rivers of the area all the while taking in the splendor that has been provided by mother nature.
North Carolina
The beautifully crafted scenerey and numerous hiking trails of North Carolina offer many opportunities to see the fall leaf colors. To be honest it would take you days to see everything North Carolina has to offer in the way of autumn leaves. Consider visiting the Biltmore Estates, located in the mountains of North Carolina to enjoy the scenery. There are many historic homes in the area that offer a bit of history along with spectacular fall colors to enhance your appreciation of the fall season.
Missouri
Many American readers first became aquainted with the Ozark Mountains in the book “Where the Red Fern Grows.” You be pleased to know that the beauty described in the book does not compare to the actual beauty of the area in real life. Enjoy a trip down the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Boating on the smooth waters of the Ozarks will add incredible memories to your autumn leaves sightseeing trip.
Oregon
Again, most people will immediately think of the Northeast when it comes time to take a trip to enjoy the fall leaves. However, you should not overlook the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, with its gorgeous display of autumn leaves. It doesn’t matter if you chose to see Oregon by boat, car or hike the trails – Oregon offers a splendid tapestry of fall leaf colors.
It’s plain to see that the United States has more than one area to offer the fall leaves lover. But remember, those fall foliage displays peak at different times. Be sure to check the web to find out when you should visit for the best experience possible.
You can enjoy the fall foliage without knowing how or why it happens. But you may enjoy it more if you learn why fall leaves change color. Try a science project to discover the fall leaf colors yourself.
You will find that once you take one trip, getting out seeing what America has to offer in the way of fall foliage it will become a yearly routine. What are you waiting for? Start planning your trip today and make colorful memories that will last a lifetime.
