I am looking for a fastgrowing, low maintenance tree or hedge for privacy?
I currently live in NJ (zone 6) and have 35 white pines that I do not want to remove…can any hedge or shrub co-exist with the pines? My priority is height as the pines now expose the highway behind my house. I want low maintence as I do not want to have to worry about trimming..It should be evergreen, as I don’t want to see the highway in winter.
I have had people tell me Leiland Cypress trees are good, but I would have to remove all the pines, and thisis something I do not want to consider.
The only low maintenance evergreen shrub I can think of that would grow beneath pines would be Euonymous or Oregon grape. English Yew is another alternative which unfortunately does have leaves and berries that are toxic if eaten by children or pets.
